Continental Airlines Launches Flat-Bed BusinessFirst Seats
- Published: November 4, 2009
Continental Airlines' first aircraft with new flat-bed BusinessFirst seats took to the skies Sunday, operating as flight CO98 from Hong Kong to New York/Newark.
The aircraft, a Boeing 777 used on long-haul international routes, is the first aircraft type in Continental's fleet to receive the new seats. The company will also install the flat-bed seats on its Boeing 757-200 and 767-400 aircraft, and on its Boeing 787 fleet as the aircraft are delivered to Continental.
"We began designing this seat three years ago, involving our customers and numerous other experts to get it just right and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result," said Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive officer of Continental Airlines. "This is a great seat and I am excited to see more of them on flights throughout our system."
Continental's new BusinessFirst seats allow customers to lie completely flat, reclining 180-degrees and providing 6 1/2 feet (2 meters) of sleeping space in the fully extended position. Electronic controls enable customers to easily move the seat to an infinite number of adjustments, including lumbar support and fully extended sleep positions. Laptop power, headset and USB plugs are conveniently tucked above the customer's shoulder and iPod connectivity is also available at the seat. The seats feature 15.4-inch video monitors
Asia Jet Launches Jet Card

Metrojet, part of Hong Kong Aviation Group that has over 30 years of flight operations experience, is an Asian pioneer and regional leader in private jet services, and has been appointed by Asia Jet to provide comprehensive aircraft management for its fleet and is the exclusive aircraft operator and maintenance provider for the Program.
Asia Jet Partners Limited has created an entirely new category in the Asian private aviation marketplace and a unique way for many high net worth individuals and companies to hire private aircraft to meet their unique transportation requirements according to Justin Lee Firestone, Founder and CEO of Asia Jet Partners Limited.
Asia Jet Cardmembers are entitled to superior availability and unparalleled access of "occupied" flight time. Asia Jet Cardmembers have unique access to Metrojet's world class fleet of Gulfstream private jets. Metrojet, part of the Kadoorie Group led by Sir Michael Kadoorie, is Hong Kong's only fully licensed business jet operator specializing in aircraft flight operations, management and comprehensive aircraft maintenance.
The Asia Jet Card delivers the safety and customised service of full private jet ownership with only a prepaid commitment to become an Asia Jet Cardmember. Asia Jet Cardmembers can enjoy all the convenience of full private jet ownership without operational and acquisition responsibilities. All hourly flight charges and associated handling fees are debited from the Cardmembers prepaid balances each time they fly. The Asia Jet Cardmembers prepaid balance covers all of their per flight costs. All responsibilities of hiring and training flight crews, scheduling and maintenance are handled seamlessly.
This revolutionary concept provides a quality alternative to aging fleets and inconsistent service of some fledgling independent or low cost airlines-related charter operators in the Far East.

A Legendary Yacht Begins Service in the Galapagos Islands
- Published: July 25, 2009
Quasar Expeditions announced that the official launch of its much anticipated vintage luxury yacht, M/Y Grace, took place Saturday, July 4th, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Galapagos National Park.
Not since HMS Beagle sailed into the Galapagos Islands carrying young Charles Darwin in 1835 has a vessel of such historic significance entered the archipelago. Like the Beagle, M/Y Grace was built in Britain, and served in the Royal Navy. But you won’t find hardtack being served aboard Grace. The yacht is selling well despite hard economic times, indicating continued demand for high end value in 16 passenger yachts in the Galapagos National Park, which limits daily visitors by vessel to fewer than 2,000.
The Grace was originally commissioned one year before the Wall Street Crash of 1929, during the Great Gatsby era, and built by Camper & Nicholson in Southampton, England. Monica, as she was originally named, features a stellar past. After serving as the personal yacht of high powered industrialists, including Sir George Tilley, chairman of the Prudential Insurance Co., she was conscripted into the British Navy during WWII. Commissioned as Rion, she took part in Dunkirk, captured a German torpedo E-boat and had an unconfirmed sinking of a U-boat to her credit. Winston Churchill is purported to have cruised the Mediterranean aboard her after the war. In 1951 she was acquired by a company owned by Aristotle Onassis, who renamed her Arion. Onassis gave the yacht as a wedding gift to Prince Rainier III of Monaco and his bride, Hollywood film legend Grace Kelly, who rechristened her Deo Juvante II in time to honeymoon aboard her. Quasar has renamed the yacht Grace to recapture this magical time when she delivered the royal couple to Monaco and took them on their honeymoon, which is documented in a newsreel available on Youtube™ at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZxjNmR1SVo
When Quasar pioneered its small group cruises 23 years ago, the typical visitor simply wanted to have an up-close, in-depth and personal experience of the unique, exotic and friendly Galapagos creatures in their natural habitat. Thankfully that has not changed but, the importance of choosing the right yacht to compliment the cruise has, as travelers have sought a better boat with more amenities. While other yachts like Quasar’s Alta and Evolution have made a name for themselves in the Galapagos, Grace is the first vessel to arrive with such impressive credentials. Grace raises the bar higher with its notoriety, spaciousness and service levels.
Amanresorts Debuts 105-foot Luxury Cruiser Amanikan
- Published: July 17, 2009
Amanikan was introduced this summer to launch the 2009 Komodo Expedition, a seven-night adventure through the pristine wilderness and waters of Indonesia's Komodo National Park.
Amanikan is the newest addition to the fleet at Amanwana, a luxury tented hideaway on Moyo Island in Indonesia. Amanikan, a custom-built 32-metre coastal cruiser combines the romance of spice trading vessels with luxurious modern amenities.
Amanikan features three above-deck cabins, a foredeck with an outdoor dining and bar area and extensive dive facilities. An expansive master cabin sits at the stern of the upper deck and offers sweeping 270 degree views from both inside the cabin's wraparound windows and a large private sun deck. The second spacious double cabin on the main deck features the same spectacular views from both inside the cabin and from a second private balcony with built-in daybed. Both air conditioned cabins feature spacious en-suite bathrooms with double vanities, double wardrobes, showers and separate toilets. The master cabin features a king-sized bed and the second cabin features a queen bed. A third smaller air conditioned cabin on the main deck is also available with a semi-private sun deck in front of the wheelhouse. It offers a queen-sized bed that can be converted to two single beds upon request. Amanikan's principal lounge space is built into the bow of the cruiser and will serve as the main gathering spot for daytime sunbathing, pre-dinner drinks, or even a night sleeping under the stars.
Amanikan provides a rustically-elegant cruising environment. Furnishings are custom-made of teak, rattan and other locally-sourced materials. Teak decks are complemented by fabric and upholstery that is largely crisp white. All cabin walls are of rattan weave, and a soothing color palette of taupe, honey and white with antique brass fixtures and switches in each room provides a tranquil setting in which to relax and retire. Each cabin boasts vaulted ceilings over two metres high, a unique feature for a vast majority of other livaboards and other luxury Phinisi vessels.
The sizeable galley is well-equipped for both short and long-haul trips. Three full-sized upright refrigerators and freezers mean that fresh fruit and vegetables will be available and preserved throughout a multi-day excursion. A 70 kilogram ice machine in the below-deck galley provides cold beverages during the heat of the day. An outdoor galley features a bar area to facilitate dinner under the stars or a sunny mid-day lunch. The foredeck includes a dining table that accommodates up to 10 people, along with a portable gas grill for the catch of the day. Dive equipment for up to six guests, along with equipment for one instructor and a spare are available in the outdoor galley. Sun loungers are located on the private decks of the master and second cabin and in the third lounge area for relaxing, sunbathing and dining.

Charter Sir Richard Branson's Luxury Catamaran in the Caribbean

Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson's privately owned collection of luxury retreats, announces a new girl in town, Necker Belle – a magnificent 32 metre (105 foot) catamaran. Take note, she's one fast lady, effortlessly reaching a top cruising speed of 20 knots!
Necker Belle has spent the last two years undergoing an impressive refit, following her former years as Lady Barbaretta. Currently in Australia with the final nips and tucks underway, she'll be turning heads in no time!

Experience an Intimate Alaskan Cruise on a Vintage Private Yacht
- Published: December 28, 2009
Experience the wilds of Alaska – whales, fjords, bears, eagles, glaciers and more – up close and personal in a lovingly restored and iconic private yacht from yesteryear.
This is no mega cruise ship experience with distant views of whales on the horizon and cafeteria style buffets. Rather, it is a small private yacht where you get within feet of a whale as it swims in the icy waters, and where your chef prepares succulent dishes with the seafood caught each day by the guests, if they choose… right off the boat.
Oh, and did we mention wild? True, the service will be outstanding with 4 crew members for just six cabins, but this is also an experiential voyage.
As an example, guests don't have to worry about overcrowded onboard hot tubs. Instead clients disembark to swim in their own private hot springs on shore.
